Pete Noble - trying to claim a goal that was a blatant OG
4th Nov: Nailsea 1 Pip'n'Jay 3

Nailsea's 8 game unbeaten run in cups and league ended today at the hands of Pip n Jay.

Nailsea were much better today than the previous week against Welstock who i think we would have beaten comfortably if we had put in the effort of today.
Nailsea started brightly and within seconds of the start won possession and cut the Pips defence open with the ball falling to Jon Lansdown who, with more time and space than he realised, shot narrowly wide. However slack defending allowed a Pips forward to waltz past three Nailsea defenders and lift the ball past the keeper to take an early lead. Nailsea redoubled their efforts and put the Pips defence under pressure winning a series of corners. Five minutes before the break a Hall corner was flicked on by Wood to Noble at the far post who, sporting a hair band, knocked the ball back across the goal area forcing the Pips keeper to fumble the ball and throw it into his own net (sorry Pete this is how kelv saw it and the ref said it was a defo own goal).

One all at half time, due to injury and a headache Nailsea lost both Wood and Feargo with Searle and The Hass coming on. The Hass had the bit between the teeth and fighting for his place had an excellent second half. Hall was put clean through and missed a golden opportunity to make it 2-1 to Nailsea and shortly afterward poor marking at a corner gave a Pips forward all the time and space in the world to make it 2-1. Nailsea kept fighting and pushed forward at every opportunity.

With around 20 minutes to go a quality move saw the Pips rip the Nailsea defence to shreds to make it 3-1, couldn't grumble a great move.

Nailsea pushed three up front and kept battling but were thwarted by some excellent defending.

We kept pushing and pushing but couldn't get that break. The game was played in a good sporting spirit, the Pip lads are a good bunch and a qaulity team. We may have lost today but the workrate, effort and desire was there and at times we played some good quality football. If we carry this form through to our next games then.......

Pete Noble deservedly was voted man of the match, despite the hair band and also won MVP.

Line-up: Moss, Woodward, Noble, Wood (Searle), Britton, Rowe, Mark, Lansdown, Feargo (Hass), Hall, Bradbury (Maggs).

Goals: OG Pip'n'Jay keeper.
