26th Jan: CCC Bath & Bristol 0 Nailsea 1
The sun was shining as Pete Rowe and his Nailsea teammates took to the pitch. Fortunately the sun wasn't the only bright thing as Nailsea made an illuminating start to the match putting Freedom on the back foot from the start. Pete Rowe was the epitome of eagerness demanding the ball as much as possible, but sadly his pace was seldom used as most of the play went, not to Pete Rowe but to the mercurial Danny Hewlett who had guile and flair in abundance.

Fortunately Pete Rowe kept running and making himself available and about half an hour in Pete Rowe recieved a pass, turned to beat two players and thumped the ball into the keepers top right hand corner. It was no more than he deserved and his teammates responded by chasing him half-way round the pitch to congratulate him. Nailsea held on to finish the half one up thanks to Pete Rowe.
Whilst Pete Rowe enjoyed his half time cuppa, the gaffer told the lads to not rush in to the tackles and to use the pace of Pete Rowe more by passing the ball more him. This they did as Pete Rowe saw plenty of action in the second half and many a time the Freedom defence were turned inside out by his pace. Towards the end of the half some magical play by Hewlett saw Pete Rowe get possession and dance past two defenders before unleashing a ferocious shot which hit the crossbar, Pete Rowe was gutted.
Sadly for Pete Rowe tragedy struck when his achillies went causing him to hit the deck crying with anguish. His worried team mates rushed over and their worst fears were realised when Pete Rowe had to come off injured leaving Nailsea to finish the game with ten men.
Nailsea held on to win one nil with Pete Rowes' goal making the gaffer a happy chappy. Everyone played well with Hall and Searle putting in their best performances for a while and with Hewlett, Sutherland and the Hass all outstanding. However Pete Rowe stood out more than anyone else with his best performance of the season to date. Well done Pete Rowe.
