Kelvin Hall - finding his form, the net, MVP and MOM awards
16th Dec: VCF Santos 2 Nailsea 3

Nailsea put on a Christmas cracker performance at Patchway and walk away with a 3-2 win against VCF Santos.

It was a much needed victory after only playing 2 games in the previous 6 weeks, both ending in losses and being knocked out of the Somerset and BCFA cup.
Nailsea took to the field with only 10 players after a few late drop-outs. Santos were also struggling to field a team but managed to put out 11 players, but saying they would have to lose one at half-time due to other commitments.

Nailsea didn't let the number disadvantage affect them and started strongly, stringing some nice moves together and playing the sort of football that had gone awol in the previous few matches. The experienced defence looked strong in the new 3-4-3 formation and Mike Woodward and the returning Kev Carr looked particularly dangerous in the wide midfield positions.

Mike Woodward (otherwise known as mikenailsea - the man that can't spell) opened the scoring for Nailsea to put them 1-0 up at half-time. Nailsea then lost their grip on the game in the second half with Santos pushing forward at every opportunity. The Santos left winger was starting to cause all sorts of problems with his pace and control, eventually leading to an equaliser for Santos.

Feargo took to the field with 30mins remaining, but with the Nailsea team struggling to adapt to having a full team, Santos nicked a second goal to put them ahead 2-1.

Nailsea eventually found their feet with the midfield starting to boss the game and threatening to score at every opportunity. An equaliser finally came through Kelvin Hall, confirming his recent return to form.

It wasn't too long before Nailsea had restored the lead with a second winning goal from Kelvin Hall. A thoroughly deserved victory for 10-men Nailsea (for most of the game anyway) against the old foe that keeps the promotion dreams alive.
